The Small Project has a great selection of baby and children’s clothes and we’d love them to be worn again and again.
Anybody in financial need can be referred by a professional and use the service for free.
Anyone who can afford to make a donation can register and become a paid-up library user.
If you consider yourself in financial need (i.e. you struggle to pay for the all the clothing and equipment you need for your child) then you can be referred to us to collect free bundles of clothes (we provide 0-3yr), as well as other items we have in stock such as moses baskets and sleeping bags. Just ask an organisation or professional such as your health visitor, local children’s centre, food bank, or social worker to refer you by visiting the referral page on our website. You don’t need any paperwork or proof of income. You’ll simply need to give a brief explanation of your situation so that we can understand who uses the service. We don't pass this information on to anyone else.
Once the referral has been made we’ll arrange for you to come in on a Thursday morning to choose the items you need. Babies and young children grow quickly so when you need bigger sizes just come back to us and collect another size. You can return the outgrown clothes to us or pass them on to someone else who needs them.
Please see our Referral page. for info about how to refer a family to us.
The Small Project is trialling a new scheme where anyone, regardless of circumstances, can borrow bundles of clothing (ranging from 018mths) for a suggested cash donation of £10 per bundle.
We're really keen to promote clothing re-use and to reduce waste across the whole community. We think this is a great opportunity to participate in an environmentally conscious initiative, whilst also benefiting from low cost clothing. At the same time it raises vital funds enabling us to run a free service for those in most need, and also to buy additional much needed items such as new moses basket mattresses.
To register or to enquire further about our clothes library just email firstname.lastname@example.org. Let us know the age range you currently need (i.e., 0-3mth girl) and we’ll arrange for you to come in on a Thursday morning to choose your items. When you have finished with the clothes please return them (or an equivalent bundle) and you are welcome to borrow all over again.
We're a friendly bunch and we'll provide you with tea, coffee, entertainment for the kids and a chance to chat whilst you sort through the clothes and find what you need. Our Thursday morning sessions take place 10am - 12 noon at the Oasis Playspace, next to the Imperial War Museum in Lambeth. We hope to see you soon!
